Does it cost anything to post a job?

No. Posting a job is free, and you are under no obligation to accept any quote you receive, or to accept any at all.

How many trades will contact me?

Three at most. We cap it deliberately.

What has GoodTrades actually checked?

Less than you might assume, and the profile says so rather than leaving you to guess. Signing up is open: a trade can list here and start looking at jobs straight away. We check company details afterwards and get in touch if we have questions. Where the law requires a registration — Gas Safe, for instance — we check it against the register before they can take that work, and the profile names the number. We do not verify identity documents. The reviews are the part we do stand behind: a review can only come from a homeowner whose job that trade paid to see, and it says whether she hired them, only got a quote, or was left waiting. We cannot verify that the work happened — nobody can — so we print her account of it rather than a badge implying we checked.

Something has gone wrong with a job

Tell us. We cannot do the work for a trade or make a payment for you, but we can take a trade off GoodTrades, and we do.
