User agreement
Last updated 18 September 2026.
This is a pre-launch agreement, written by GoodTrades’ operator and not yet reviewed by a solicitor. Where something below is a gap rather than a decision, it says so.
This is the agreement for using GoodTrades as a tradesperson. Creating a business account, or buying a job, means you accept it.
Credit, not a subscription
You pay from a credit balance, one job at a time. Nothing is billed to you automatically, and you can never go below zero. At most 3 businesses can take the same job. The price falls as places fill: the first trade to take a job pays the full price, the second pays 75%, the third 50%. An urgent job costs more, because you can act on it tonight rather than next week, and it is yours alone for the first 20 minutes before anyone else can buy it.
Card payment is not switched on yet. Ask us and we will add credit by hand — we would rather tell you that than take a card number into something half-built.
What taking a job gets you
The moment you pay, we give you the homeowner’s name, phone number, email address, postcode and description. There is no approval step on their side, so answer quickly — a lead loses value by the hour.
Before you can take work here
Nothing stands between you and your first job: you can buy one as soon as you have finished signing up. We look at your company details afterwards and will get in touch if something does not add up. We can suspend an account at any time, and we do not claim on your profile to have checked more than we have.
If you do gas work, you also need a Gas Safe registration we have confirmed. Pending and expired both count as not having one, and we will not let a gas purchase through without it — that is the law, not a choice we are making.
If a job turns out to be no good
Tell us within 30 days of taking it, using the reasons on the report page: the number was wrong, they had already had the work done, the job was nothing like the description, they were never a real buyer, or you already have this job. We aim to decide within 5 working days, and any credit goes back to your balance, not your card. Give a homeowner 3 working days to answer before reporting a wrong number — most people do answer.
Reviews
Only the homeowner who posted the job can review you, and only once you have taken it — we check this against our own records rather than trust the form. Under 3 reviews we do not show an average at all, because one bad job and a pattern look identical at that count; we print the reviews instead.
You get one public reply per review, and it goes live 60 minutes after you write it, so there is time to take it back and write it again before anyone sees it. Once it is public, it stays.
We do not remove a review — yours or anyone else’s — for being unflattering. That is not a ground you can ask us to act on, and it is not one a homeowner can either.
What can get your account suspended
We can suspend or close your account. In practice that is a decision a person makes, not something that happens automatically: it happens when what you told us at sign-up turns out to be false, when a registration we checked lapses (which blocks that category of job until it is current again, without closing your account for it), or when we have good reason to think you are not who you say you are. We do not suspend an account for receiving bad reviews.
A closed account is not deleted. Your reviews stay up, because a review belongs to the person who wrote it and the work it describes, not to you.
Changes to this agreement
We may update this agreement as the site changes. Check the date at the top; we will not backdate a change that affects you.
