Dave came out to have a proper look and was really thorough, checking the whole board and asking sensible questions about the wiring. He clearly knew what he was talking about and was upfront and honest the whole time. The quote came back at around 3,000 pounds though, which is more than we were expecting to spend, so we're still weighing up whether to go ahead with him or get another opinion first. No complaints about him as a person to deal with, just the price gave us pause.

Glad the survey was useful, even if the number wasn't what you hoped for - a full RCBO board swap and sorting the socket fault isn't a small job, but I've priced it fairly and stand behind it.
