Gareth came out and gave a really clear, knowledgeable survey for lining the chimney ready for a wood-burner — checked the flue over, explained the sweep and the flexible liner, and talked me through the liner size and what the job would involve. The quote was detailed and I was genuinely impressed with how he explained it all. I haven't gone ahead yet only because I've not bought the stove and I'm still comparing a couple of quotes, so this is on the survey and quote rather than finished work. On that basis he made a very good impression.

The finished lawn genuinely looks great and, best of all, it actually drains now — the middle and the back fence used to be a bog every winter and that's been sorted, with two kids and a dog able to use it every day. The quality of the work and the way Gareth dealt with us were spot on. The downside was that the job overran by a couple of days, and they left a fair bit of spoil and offcuts behind that I had to chase a few times before it was finally cleared. Pleased with the result overall, just wish the finish-up had been tidier and on time.

I'm genuinely pleased the drainage is sorted and the lawn's holding up for the kids and dog day to day — that boggy middle and back fence was the real challenge. You're absolutely right on the finish, though: the job overrunning and leaving spoil and offcuts for you to chase wasn't good enough, and I'm sorry for it. Gareth came out the same day I posted, which was a real weight off with an active nest in the loft and young children in the house. He dealt with a large, angry nest calmly and safely, worked cleanly around the kids, and had a proper look over the rest of the roofline to check there weren't any others. No fuss, sensible advice, and a fair price for an urgent call-out. I'd have him back without hesitation.
