Came round to look at skimming our artexed lounge ceiling and gave a clear written quote. Polite and turned up on time for the visit. We have not gone ahead yet as the price was a bit higher than a couple of others we are waiting on, so cannot speak to the actual work. No complaints about how they dealt with us though.

Thanks for taking the time, Harriet, and no problem at all that you are weighing up quotes - sensible on a ceiling like that. I priced it to properly bond and skim over the artex so it stays flat and crack-free rather than skimming thin over it, which is where the figure comes from. Happy to break any part of the quote down if that helps. If the timing or the other quotes do not work out, the door is open and I would be glad to fit you in. All the best with it.

Bathroom Tiling

The bathroom wall tiling looks good in the end and the finish is neat. A couple of small niggles: they arrived a day later than arranged without much notice, and there was a bit of grout haze left that I had to clean off myself. Friendly enough and the tiling itself is tidy, but for the price I would have expected the reliability and the clean-up to be a bit sharper.

Thank you for the honest feedback, Harriet, and I am sorry we let you down on two counts. Arriving a day late without proper notice is not good enough; a previous job overran and I should have called you the moment I knew. And leaving grout haze for you to clean was my miss - a final buff-off is part of the job, not something you should have to do. I would like to put it right and am happy to come back to re-clean the tiles and grout lines at no charge whenever suits you. Thanks for giving us the work.

Brick / Block Paving

Really pleased with the new block paving driveway. Fielder turned up when they said, cleared the old cracked concrete, got the base right and the finished drive looks spot on. Tidy workers and easy to talk to. Only reason it is not full marks on value is the price crept up a little at the end, but the quality was well worth it.

Thank you Harriet, it was a pleasure to do your driveway and I am really glad the finished drive looks how you wanted. On value you are quite right that the final figure edged up: once we lifted the old cracked concrete the sub-base had softened more than expected, so we added extra Type 1 and compaction so the drive will not dip later. I should have flagged that on the day rather than at the end, and I will be clearer about it up front next time. Thanks again for having us.
