Very disappointing. Dominic took the garage floor job and we agreed he would come out to look at the concrete and advise on whether it should be a polished grind or a poured resin/epoxy coating. We booked a morning, I took time off work, and nobody turned up and nobody called. I chased twice by phone and message and got no reply at all after that. I understand jobs fall through, but being left waiting with no word is not on. Cannot recommend on this experience.

Eleanor, I'm sorry - this one is on us. You booked the morning and took time off, and we neither turned up nor called, then didn't reply when you chased. That is not the standard we hold ourselves to and I understand your frustration completely; there's no excuse and I won't offer one. If you'd be open to it, I'd genuinely like to put it right - happy to attend at a time that suits, no obligation, to look at the slab and advise on grind-and-seal versus an epoxy coating. Decorative Cornicing / Plasterwork

They came out and provided a quote for the lounge coving and ceiling rose, but it was a fairly lukewarm experience. Dominic was polite enough on the phone, though it took a couple of chases to actually get the written quote, and they were a bit vague about whether they could truly match the existing Victorian profile and the mitred corners. The price came in higher than a couple of other plasterers for what it was, so in the end we did not go ahead with them. Not bad, just nothing that stood out.

You're right that the written quote took too long to reach you, and that I should have been clearer from the outset about exactly how we match an existing Victorian profile and hand-mitre the internal and external corners - that's on me and something I'm tightening up. Dominic and the Saltmarsh & Weald team were outstanding from start to finish. They arranged a structural engineer's report, set up monitoring, and explained mass-concrete versus mini-piled underpinning clearly before recommending the right approach. They liaised directly with our buildings insurer, turned up exactly when promised, kept the site immaculate, and the front bay corner is now stable with the cracks made good. Faultless workmanship and completely trustworthy - I would not hesitate to recommend them.
