Daniel from Whitcombe got back to me quickly and gave a clear, helpful quote for fitted alcove shelving both sides of the chimney breast. I really liked his suggestion of adjustable shelves so we can move them later, and he offered to come round to measure up and show examples of his previous work, which was reassuring. I haven't hired him yet as I'm still comparing a couple of quotes before deciding, but the whole exchange was friendly and professional and he's very much in the running.
